“4/4 is the blueprint for choreographic precision, minimalist design and rugged street aesthetics. Eight dancers perform a stark symphony of mesmerising movement inside the industrial vastness of the Merlyn theatre. As episode after episode builds upon the last, quartets and duets converge and diverge in ever more hypnotic configurations.”
Set in the Merlyn Theatre at Malthouse Theatre, '4/4' is a masterclass in precision choreography and edgy street aesthetics. Within the expansive industrial setting, eight dancers unite to create a symphony of movement that entrances viewers from the very first beat. The quartets and duets seamlessly intertwine, forming hypnotic configurations that leave audiences spellbound.
One of the standout features of '4/4' is the collaboration between choreographer Antony Hamilton and sound designer Alisdair Macindoe. Macindoe's metronome arrangements construct a harmonious yet dissonant soundscape, mirroring the intricacies of the dance itself. This remarkable partnership, previously acclaimed for their award-winning production 'MEETING', once again presents their unique fusion of movement and sound, captivating a new generation of dance enthusiasts.
