Do you dance? Did you dance or are you a little dance curious?

Transit Dance & Latrobe City Council invites you to gather together and collaborate on an exciting new dance project with Melbourne choreographers Jayden Hicks and Paul Malek.

Re|Collection is a FREE interactive performance experience where you can share your stories and create movement that celebrates you and your special moments of dance. People young and old, experienced and new to dance are invited to co-create a new work that celebrates us, our memories and how we move culminating in an outdoor performance in Victory Park in January 2021. All ages and abilities welcome

Participation Groups

Group One: Open Participation

This group is open to anyone and everyone! This will be a portion of the work where the participants can simply follow along with our Dance Leaders. Think along the lines of a "flash mob" type design.

Performance Commitment: "Rehearse as you need"
Rehearsals will be held on Wednesday 20th, Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. We recommend attending at least 2 of these rehearsals. Participants will be needed from 1:00pm on Saturday 23rd January with the performance commencing at 7:30pm.

Group Two: Creative Adult

This group is best for any adult that wants to dive into the project and get a good grasp on what it means to create movement. All movements will be personally catered to your ability, so whether you danced as a child, enjoy dance fitness as an adult or just like to tear up the dance floor, this is the group for you!

Performance Commitment
Rehearsals will be held on Wednesday 20th and Friday 22nd from 10:00am - 3:00pm. Participants will be needed from 1:00pm on Saturday 23rd January with the performance commencing at 7:30pm.

Group Three: Young and Eager

This is our youngest group of participants, aimed at participants under 15 years of age. This group will work alongside Group 1, so is perfect for any families that want to participate together. We recommend that any participant under 12 years of age have a parent also included in the project.

Group Four: Dance Leader

This group is perfect for all those dancers who consider dance more than a hobby and want to use this experience to learn more about contemporary dance. With a full-time commitment to the week, these dancers will participate in workshops and act as the core of the performance outcome.
