Welcome from the Artistic Director

Welcome to The Artists with our Pre-Professional Contemporary students.

Tonight we gather to experience an evening of exploration, physical storytelling, and choreographic experimentation. Each year level offers a unique perspective: our second-year artists present intimate, self-devised solos that speak to their individuality, while our third-year cohort share original group works that showcase the versatility of their contemporary practice.

We are also proud to introduce a new choreographic work by Transit alumni Jack and Jel, created especially for our first-year students. Their contribution not only highlights the artistry of our emerging dancers but also celebrates the continuing creative legacy of our alumni within the wider Transit community.

This season is designed to immerse you in a festival-style environment, where multiple performance spaces invite shifting perspectives and new encounters. The relaxed setting encourages closeness, curiosity, and dialogue, dismantling the usual boundaries between audience and performer. Whether standing, seated casually, or requesting a chair, I hope you feel welcomed into a space of shared discovery.
