Girls Just Want to Have Fun!

There's no greater joy than using our art to give back to the community, which is why we were excited to perform at the Challenge Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend Gala. This is the sixth year that Transit has been asked to provide the opening number, and they certainly didn't disappoint.

This year's theme was "Girls Just Want To Have Fun," and it was up to Transit's Creative Team to come up with an 80s-inspired extravaganza. The team, led by Jayden Hicks and Chris Curran, produced a show-stopping performance that featured 30 incredibly talented pre-professional dancers and an abundance of sequins that sparkled in the bright lights of the prestigious Crown Palladium event.

Under the choreographic guidance of Jillian Green, the Course Coordinator at Transit Dance, the dancers pulled off a stunning routine that left the entire audience on their feet. A mashup of Cindy Lauper's classic "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," the performance had an infectious energy that was hard to resist.

Jasmine, one of the student performers, said, "I felt so alive on stage. There's nothing quite like performing for a crowd who is supporting such an important cause. Being part of Transit Dance is such an honor, and I feel privileged to have been chosen for this event."

The Challenge Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend Gala is a fundraising event for Challenge, a children's cancer charity, and it's an opportunity for parents, carers, and supporters of children with cancer to have a fun-filled night of celebration. Transit Dance is incredibly proud to be involved and give back to their community, and this event is an important part of their community outreach program.

"We were thrilled to be invited back to the Challenge Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend Gala again this year," said Jayden Hicks, co-creator of the Transit Dance performance. "It's such an honor to be part of this event that raises money for such a great cause, and we always aim to create something really special."

"The whole team worked incredibly hard to create a performance that captures the fun and energy of the 80s," added Chris Curran. "It was fantastic to see the dancers light up the stage and give so much pleasure to the audience."

The 1500 strong audience was full of praise for Transit Dance's performance. One guest said, "I've never seen dancers with so much energy and talent on stage before. It was a pleasure to watch and made me realize the power of dance." Another guest mentioned, "Transit never fails to impress, and this year's performance was no exception. They truly brought the 80s back to life."

With the event a resounding success, the Transit team are proud to continue supporting cancer charities and giving back to their community, one fantastic performance at a time.
