Paul Malek wows on Dancing with The Stars

Over the past ten years Paul Malek has the earned the reputation of being one of Australia's greatest storytellers through movement. Having made a name for himself as contemporary choreographer of Seasons 3 & 4 of So You Think You Can Dance Australia, his ability to convey an honest and moving narrative through dance in under one minute thirty is unrivalled.

So it's no surprise to learn that Paul has also been a regular contemporary choreographer on Australia's Dancing with the Stars for last few series. Whilst not openly acknowledged on the program, Paul has actually clocked up over seven stunning routines with celebs such as Matthew Mitcham, David Rodan, Kelly Cartwright and Darren Hayes.

This year when he got the call, he was over the moon to find out he would be choreographing on the beautiful Chole Lattanzi, daughter of the one and only Olivia Newton-John.

“Honestly, when I found out I have Chloe first up I was thrilled. Growing up I was such a huge fan of Olivia, and I remember watching Chloe grow up on TV also. So having the opportunity to work so closely with both of them on this special routine was a dream”

In only two three hour rehearsals (yes that's all they get), Paul had to create and refine a stunning TV-ready routine that would wow both judges and the general public. Part of the Memorable Year episode, Chloe’s concept was based around her coming of age and struggle with her mothers cancer diagnosis.

A challenge for some, but not for Paul. Even under the watchful eye of Olivia (who sat in on most rehearsals like the proud mum she is), Paul worked his magic with the duo to produce another beautiful work that brought the audience to tears and put Chloe on the top of the leaderboard.

Another job well done!
